About this role
Volunteers at Woolwich Works play a central part creating an inviting and friendly atmosphere for everyone who visits our venue. We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join our team as Volunteer Tour Guides.
As a tour guide, you will play a crucial role in enhancing visitors' experiences by providing informative and engaging tours of Woolwich Works on Sunday mornings. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your love for the arts and culture while contributing to the community.
Responsibilities
Our team of volunteers is proud to be part of Woolwich Works and represents our values. Our venue strives to be safe, inclusive and accessible to all and you’ll help us ensure that’s always the case.
Your duties will involve:
- Conducting guided tours of Woolwich Works, highlighting its history, architecture, and current events.
- Providing visitors with detailed information about the various spaces and facilities within the venue.
- Answering questions and engage with visitors to ensure a memorable and enjoyable experience.
- Assisting with special events and exhibitions as needed.
- Promoting Woolwich Works' mission and values to visitors.
- Maintain Health and Safety standards in line with Woolwich Works policies
- Ensure that people are safe during their visit.
- Facilitate in evacuation through emergency exits if required.
- Report suspicious or forbidden behaviour to the Duty Manager
- Report medical incidents to the Duty Manager
- Help to clear and reset the venue
Our tours are scheduled every Sunday from 11:00am and will usually take around 45 minutes to deliver.
You’re expected to arrive in good time to inspect the route and ensure there are no obstacles or hazards.

- Free refreshments will be provided during your shifts.
Requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to engage and interact with diverse groups of people
- You must be over 18.
- While we don’t expect everyone’s schedule to allow for a commitment to this every week, we ask that you’re available for a minimum of two shifts every month.
- Priority will be given to residents of the Royal Borough of Greenwich but applications are open to all.
- You’ll be expected to adhere to our venue H&S policies.
- You must ensure all duties from this role description are followed and adhered to.
- You’ll commit to representing Woolwich Works, uphold our values and commitment to diversity and inclusion, and generally act as an ambassador for the venue.
- You’ll be expected to wear a uniform and follow our presentation standards.
