
Vesna Fest: Letters on War and Love
University of Greenwich in association with Woolwich Works “War is awful, my love, but that’s where I need to be”. Readings of battlefield letters and poetry from Ukraine.How do civilians and soldiers deal with the psychological suffering caused by war? In these semi-staged readings, we share a powerful selection of Ukrainian poetry written by soldiers on the front lines, showcasing the resilience and strength of those who have dedicated their lives for Ukraine. The reading also shares excerpts from letters published in the book Letters on War and Love, written by a Ukrainian soldier Pavlo Matyusha which tells the emotional story between him and his wife Viktoriya during the war. Readings will be in English, with some Ukrainian.
